History

Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club has deep roots in the Dundas and Hamilton community. The club was established in 1929 when the property was purchased and a golf course was designed by legendary Canadian architect Stanley Thompson, whose work includes some of the most celebrated courses in the country. The course officially opened in 1930, followed by the construction of the first permanent clubhouse in 1936, which quickly became known for its incredible views over the Niagara Escarpment.

In 1955 the club made history by becoming the first golf club in Canada to combine golf and curling facilities, officially adopting the name Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club a few years later. After a devastating fire destroyed the original clubhouse in 1962, a new modern clubhouse was constructed and opened in 1964 with large windows designed to showcase the dramatic landscape. Major renovations in 2012 further modernized the space, creating the bright, elegant event spaces couples use today.

Today the course is consistently ranked among the top golf courses in Canada and sits on more than 140 acres of rolling escarpment terrain.

Outdoor ceremonies take place on the scenic Mackenzie Hughes short course, surrounded by lush greens and views toward Dundas Peak. The rolling landscape and escarpment backdrop make this one of the most scenic ceremony settings in the Hamilton area.

Grand Ballroom (Indoor Ceremony)

Capacity: Up to 200 guests

Indoor ceremonies take place in the grand ballroom, framed by dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows with nearly 270 degrees of views over the golf course and escarpment. The natural light here is fantastic for photography and gives the ceremony a bright, airy feel.

Reception Spaces

Grand Ballroom

Capacity: Up to 200 guests

Located on the third floor of the clubhouse, the ballroom is the main reception space. Neutral décor, high ceilings, and large windows create a clean, elegant canvas that works with almost any wedding style. The room also features a spacious dance floor in the centre of the space. One of the best things about this room is the view - during sunset the escarpment and surrounding course light up beautifully, which makes the space feel extra special as the evening starts.

Bertram Lounge

The Bertram Lounge is typically used for cocktail hour before guests move into the ballroom for dinner and dancing. Located on the second floor, it offers a cozy pub-style atmosphere with large windows overlooking the curling rink and a wrap-around bar for drinks and hors d’oeuvres. It works really well as a transition space while the reception room is being finalized.
