There’s something special about photographing a surprise Hamilton Proposal, especially when it happens at one of the city’s most scenic locations. Shawn chose Sam Lawrence Park for his proposal to Rachel, and it could not have been a more perfect setting.
As a photographer, I arrived early and blended into the park while Shawn and Rachel made their way to the lookout. If you've never visited before, Sam Lawrence Park offers some of the best views in Hamilton, making it an incredible location for a Hamilton Proposal. Between the city skyline, the escarpment views, and the beautiful walking paths, it’s easy to see why so many couples choose it for such an important moment.
Once they reached the perfect spot, Shawn got down on one knee and asked Rachel to marry him. The look on her face said it all. She was completely surprised, and the excitement, happy tears, and laughter that followed made for some amazing photographs.
After the proposal, we spent some time exploring the park and capturing engagement-style portraits while they soaked it all in. One of my favourite parts of any Sam Lawrence Park Proposal is getting to photograph those first few moments after the big question has been asked. Everything is real, fresh, and full of emotion.
